Overview

This policy explains how Your Skin Matters, LLC handles information through the RuneWords iPhone app and this website. RuneWords does not sell personal information or use website analytics for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Age suitability and children's privacy

RuneWords is intended for players age 13 and older. The app is not directed to children under 13, and RuneWords does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 provided personal information through RuneWords-controlled services, contact support@runewords.online so we can review and delete it where required.

Local gameplay data

RuneWords stores campaign progress, found words, hint state, coins, daily activity, tutorial state, preferences, notification choices, and purchase-entitlement state on your device. Local data remains until you reset it, remove the app, or iOS removes or restores app storage. Apple backups may preserve data outside RuneWords' control.

Anonymous cloud account

When Firebase-backed features are available, RuneWords creates an anonymous Firebase identifier and may store progress, economy state, purchase-delivery records, and operational timestamps under that identifier. RuneWords does not offer email, password, or social sign-in, so the identifier is not guaranteed to follow you to another device or a new installation. Cloud storage is not a guaranteed cross-device restore service.

Firebase services

RuneWords may use Firebase Authentication for its anonymous identifier, Firestore for cloud player data, Cloud Functions to validate and deliver eligible purchases or rewards, App Check to protect backend requests, and Remote Config for operational settings. Firebase Analytics is separate and remains off unless you enable Share Usage Analytics in Settings and the applicable consent status allows collection. RuneWords does not currently integrate Firebase Crashlytics.

Apple services and purchases

Apple processes App Store purchases and restores. RuneWords receives StoreKit product, transaction, entitlement, refund, and revocation information needed to provide purchases; signed transaction data may be sent to the RuneWords backend for validation. If you use Game Center, RuneWords submits scores and achievement progress through your Apple Game Center account. Apple controls Apple ID billing records and Game Center account data.

Ads and consent

Ad-supported play may contact Google Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform. RuneWords applies teen treatment, caps requested ad content at Google's T rating, disables ad personalization, and does not use an age gate to request adult ad inventory. Google ad services may receive an app or device identifier, IP address, network-derived approximate location, ad-request and interaction data, and diagnostics needed to deliver, measure, secure, and limit ads. RuneWords does not request precise location. A Google consent or privacy-options form may appear where applicable. Under the current teen-safe policy, RuneWords does not request Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission to enable personalized advertising. Privacy choices do not themselves grant ad-free play; Remove Ads suppresses placements while its entitlement is active. Rewarded ads are optional and start only after you choose the offer.

Optional app analytics

Share Usage Analytics is off by default. If you enable it in Settings, RuneWords may send app interactions such as screen views, level events, hint use, purchase-flow status, and device or app context to Firebase Analytics to understand reliability and feature use. Turning the setting off stops future app analytics collection through RuneWords. Previously collected information remains subject to the provider's retention and deletion processes.

Website data and analytics

This website's hosting provider may receive ordinary server logs, including IP address, browser information, requested path, and timestamp, for delivery, security, and troubleshooting. The site also requests display fonts from Google Fonts, which causes the browser to make ordinary network requests to Google's font servers. These delivery requests are not website analytics and are not controlled by the analytics choice.

Optional PostHog and Ahrefs measurement remains off until you select Allow website analytics on the Privacy Choices page. When enabled, it may process a random browser identifier, page path, referring origin, campaign parameters, basic browser or device context, and App Store call-to-action clicks to measure site use. Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track disables these optional services even after an earlier opt-in.

Retention, deletion, and your choices

RuneWords retains information as long as reasonably needed to operate the game, deliver purchases, prevent duplicate rewards, meet legal obligations, and resolve support or security issues. Settings > Privacy & Data > Delete Cloud Data deletes the Firestore player data and anonymous Firebase account currently linked to that installation when no purchase delivery is pending. It does not delete local gameplay, Apple purchase history, Game Center data, or provider records controlled by Apple. Later use of cloud features may create a new anonymous identifier.

You can turn optional app analytics off in RuneWords Settings, manage Google consent choices through the in-app Privacy Options entry when available, and manage optional website analytics on the Privacy Choices page. Depending on where you live, you may also request access, correction, or deletion of RuneWords-controlled information.

Support and deletion requests

Email support@runewords.online for privacy questions or requests. Do not email passwords, full Apple ID details, or complete payment-card information. Because the app uses an anonymous identifier rather than an email login, support may need context from the affected installation and may be unable to identify a cloud record from an email address alone.
